What drew you to baseball, and when did you know you wanted to pursue it seriously?
Growing up in Miami and my father is what drew me to baseball. I’ve always loved the game, but I knew I wanted to do this forever after my freshman year of high school.
What’s the most challenging part of preparing for a game or a full season?
Baseball is a game of failure. You get a hit 3 times out of 10 you are an all-star. So, for me, the biggest part is mentally preparing yourself to be ready to fail sometimes when all you want to do is succeed.
How do you mentally reset after a tough inning or a bad game?
I try to get my mind off the game completely if I have a bad game. Do something completely away from baseball. The best thing about baseball is we play very often. So, if I have a bad game, I’m looking forward to the next one to redeem myself. I usually tend to do something that takes my mind off being a baseball player in general.
What’s one game-day routine or superstition you always follow?
I’ve always done a prayer during the national anthem. Hasn’t been one game that I have not done it during that exact time. The national anthem is very special to me.
If you could give one piece of advice to a young ballplayer trying to make it, what would it be?
Play everything. Play every position and every sport you can cause you never know what’s gonna work out. I always thought baseball was boring and loved playing other sports. But for my future, baseball ended up being the ticket. Be yourself, don’t do something just cause someone else wants you to, follow your heart and your dreams and everything will work out the way it’s supposed to.
What are three things you never show up to the ballpark without?
My mint FRE pouches, my phone, and some cologne.
How do you balance heavy training with proper recovery?
I try the best I can to hydrate. I’ve always struggled with drinking enough water and sleep but whenever I get those two in, I feel perfect and locked in. I don’t lift heavy; I try to stay quick and lean.
What role does mindset play on the field, and how do you keep yours sharp?
It’s everything. You can’t play baseball with a weak mindset especially since it’s a game of failure. What’s always helped me is that I’m a very confident person. I’ve always had my best games when the stage is the biggest.
How does FRE fit into your routine as an athlete and creator?
FRE just honestly gets me right. Some people drink coffee, some people drink energy drinks, some like to meditate. Me? Give me a FRE Pouch and I am LOCKED in. Athletically and mentally.
What’s next for you—any personal projects, baseball goals, or content drops coming up?
Right now, I can honestly say that I am truly living my dream job with the Cosmic Chili Peppers. I am currently on tour across the Country and playing in front of sold-out crowds and making content along the way. Which is my two favorite things to do in life. Up next is to launch my first official YouTube long form content.
If you could have any superpower to help you on the field, what would it be?
Mind reader, I would love to know what pitch is coming every time.
What’s your go-to hype song before stepping up to the plate?
Skrilla- Kodak
If you could play a game in any stadium or location in the world, where would it be?
Miami, Marlins Park
What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about life as a baseball player and content creator?
When people think about athlete creators, they usually tend to think our skill level isn’t like regular professional athletes. What people don’t know is that these teams are made up of ex minor leaguers and Division 1 athletes like me! The personality just happens to match the skill level. I take both just as serious. Content, and Baseball.
Do you have a lucky charm or pre-game superstition?
My pregame superstition is to pray during the national anthem and to run to center field before every game and touch the wall. I also always must have my #23 chain on.
If you could let a robot handle one part of training or game prep, what would it be?
Hitting, hitting is the hardest thing to do in sports. Everyone’s swing is different. So, it would be interesting to see what a robot what do to help train to be a perfect hitter since that does not exist.
